“This year at the Rite of election, the cathedral was filled and we even had overflow downstairs and we had almost 150 people. Now, people might say 150 people. But for a diocese our size with four counties, I think that's really phenomenal and it certainly marks a growth from the past several years”.
Beyond the number of adult baptisms, what really surprises the Bishop of Greensburg is the level of commitment.

“What I found is that the people who are coming to church, and there are a lot of younger families, are really intentionally making a point of being a disciple. And so, they're coming consistently and they're coming faithfully, and they're also getting involved in a lot of different ministries”.
A phenomenon that he blames on the cultural and moral vacuum that exists in Western societies.

“Our society in many ways is not embracing traditional norms of morality. Just basic human propriety and goodness. And I really think a lot of people were saying: ‘We have to make a change. We have to do something different’. And that doing something different might be going back to what is at the heart of the church and what we teach”.
The same doctrine as 2,000 years ago, but also disseminated with the support of new technologies in this Pennsylvania diocese.
