Prior to this meeting, the Pope meets with children with disabilities at the Irmãs Alma School. There he is greeted with a song by a group of sisters of the Alma Congregation and children dressed in traditional costumes. At the end of the meeting the pontiff signs a plaque commemorating the 60th anniversary of the congregation.
He then transfers to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where he is received by the Cardinal Archbishop of Dili, the president of the Episcopal Conference and the parish priest, and attends a welcoming dance. Two children offer him flowers. Then the parish priest, at the main entrance of the cathedral, hands him the cross and holy water for the sprinkling. The Pope then enters the Cathedral, crosses the nave and arrives at the altar, while the choir sings a song. Before entering the altar, he greets a group of disabled people.
