The Pope lands in East Timor where he is received by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister at the foot of the front steps of the plane, and is offered flowers and a traditional scarf (tais) by two children dressed in traditional costumes. No speech is scheduled.
They then proceed to the VIP lounge for a brief conversation. 14 people dressed in traditional costumes (representing the 14 municipalities of the country) welcome the Pope on his way to the VIP room. At the end, the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister bid farewell to the Pope, who leaves for his residence.
