During a pilgrimage to the places that shaped the life and spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, a delegation from the Loyola University of Chicago had an audience with Pope Francis.

The Pope encouraged them to continue to foster intellectual curiosity and form “hard working dreamers.”

POPE FRANCIS

At a time in history marked by rapid change and increasingly complex challenges, the role of academic institutions is crucial. You have the task not only to train brilliant minds, but also to cultivate generous hearts and consciences attentive to the dignity of every person.

Pope Francis also emphasized the importance of returning to the roots of their spirituality in order to move forward.

Loyola University of Chicago was founded by the Jesuit order in 1870 and is one of the largest Catholic universities in the United States.
