At the end of the Mass in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Pope Francis stopped to pray before a picture of this Marian devotion, highly venerated throughout the world but especially in Latin America.

As the Pope prayed, the choir of the Pio Latin American and Mexican College performed the traditional song, “La Guadalupana.”

Composed by Manuel Esperón and Ernesto Cortázar, it is a popular song that has become the primary hymn in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the patron saint of America.
