It is tradition that during the month of November, the pope presides at a Mass for bishops and cardinals who have died in the past year. On this occasion, a pope will also be celebrated. Benedict XVI will once again be remembered through just two months before the first anniversary of his death.

As usual, the pope will also visit a Roman cemetery. This year, he will go to the Rome War Cemetery, the cemetery of the Commonwealth soldiers who fell during World War II in Italy.

In recent years, the pope has visited several Roman cemeteries where soldiers who died in the war are buried. He has been to the American one and also the French one. On both occasions, he called for an end to the ongoing wars. He was particularly moved by the tombs with no names.

POPE FRANCIS

Not even the name is there. All of our names are in God's heart. But this is the tragedy of war.

Italy was one of the battlefields of World War II. Scattered throughout the country, there are still places marked by the darkness that this conflict left.
