After the Angelus prayer, before a square full of pilgrims, Pope Francis reflected on his trip to Marseille, where he traveled from September 22 to 23. The central theme of the visit was migration.
Sunday was the International Day of Migrants and Refugees. This year's theme was 'Free to choose whether to migrate or to stay.' With this in mind, and in relation to his visit to the French city, the Pope pointed out that every person has the right to a dignified life.

In fact, the right to migrate has become an obligation for many people today, whereas there should be a right not to migrate in order to stay in one's own land. It is necessary that every man and woman be guaranteed the opportunity to live a dignified life in the society in which they find themselves. Unfortunately, misery, wars and climate crisis force so many people to flee.
Pope Francis also invited all present in St. Peter's Square to participate in the ecumenical prayer vigil on the evening of September 30 in preparation for the Synod, which begins on October 4.
