The week in Vatican City begins with the twentieth meeting between Pope Francis and the Council of Cardinals. It will be held over a span of three days, and Pope Francis will likely be present each day until Wednesday morning, when he presides over his weekly catechesis in St. Peter's Square. ;

On Saturday, June 17, Pope Francis will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The two previously met in Rome in May 2016, February 2015 and May 2013. ;

Traditionally, Thursday is the Corpus Christi procession. However, this year it will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. Pope Francis usually participates in the first and final blessings of the event, but not in the procession due to knee problems. He only did so in his first year. ;

Before the procession, as it is every Sunday, he will pray the Angelus from the window of the papal apartments. He will also continue to preach his daily homilies from his residence in Casa Santa Marta. ;
