Pope Francis received the visit of Joseph Kabila, the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
He was accompanied by a large entourage. The delegation greeted the pope, who gave the president a copy of his most important documents.
During the meeting, the pope tackled the issue of the ongoing conflict between the government and rebel groups.
He underlined the importance of putting an end to the violence that is taking the lives of dozens of civilians, especially in the capital, Kinshasa, where 17 people were killed last week (50 according to opposition sources).
