Pope Francis will travel to Sweden next October 31 and November 1, for the occasion of the Lutheranâ??Catholic Common Commemoration of the Reformation. This will be the 17th trip of his pontificate. The pope will depart from Fiumicino Airport on Monday, October 31 at 8:20 a.m. and arrive in Malmo at 11:00 a.m., where he will receive the Swedish Prime Minister, Stefan Lí¶fven. At 1:50 p.m., he will visit the Swedish royal family at the Kunghuset Royal Palace in Lund.
Pope Francis will speak twice. First at 2:30 p.m., in the Ecumenical prayer service at the Lutheran Cathedral in Lund and again at 4:40 p.m., in the Ecumenical event in the Malmí¶ Arena.
The day will conclude at 6:10 p.m. with a meeting with Ecumenical delegations, also in the Malmí¶ Arena.
On Tuesday, November 1, at 9:30 a.m., the pope will celebrate Mass in the Swedbank Malmí¶ Stadion. At the end, he will go to the airport where the official farewell will take place. At 12:45 p.m., he will catch the flight back to Rome. The pope is expected to land in Ciampino airport at 3:30 p.m.
