As usual, when in Rome, Pope Francis will begin the week rising early on Monday to start Mass in Santa Marta.
On Wednesday, he will take the Pope-mobile through St. Peters Square at 9:30 in the morning, then he will ;hold the general audience before hundreds of pilgrims.
Friday will be the most important day for the Pope this week. This annual tradition, known as the liturgy of penance, will be held in the afternoon in Saint Peter's. Yet, this year it has a special significance for being the Year of Mercy. In 2014, Pope Francis surprised everyone when he himself was the first to go to a confessional.
The celebration marks the beginning of '24 Hours for the Lord' where parishes are called to leave their doors open to administer confession all day and night. ;
On Sunday, Pope Francis will close the week with the first Angelus of the month of March, from the window of the Apostolic Palace.
During the week, he will complete his agenda with the usual ceremonial visits to the Vatican.
