During his Friday morning homily at Casa Santa Marta, Pope Francis broke from tradition and spoke in Spanish instead of Italian. He discussed the nature of God's compassion, which he said had nothing to do with pity.

POPE FRANCIS
'Jesus healed people but he was not a healer. He healed people as a symbol, in addition to healing them in reality. He healed as a symbol of the compassion of God, to save people. To set them right again. A lost sheep, in the corral ... the lost coin, for that lady, in her purse.

The Pope then explained that is why God sent Jesus to the Earth: to get into humans' hearts and free them from sin.
