The Vatican has strongly denied reports that Pope Francis has a brain tumor.
Holy See Spokesman Federico Lombardi said in a statement, which was available in four languages, that the news is 'entirely unfounded.â? He continued, 'The Pope is carrying out his very intense activity in a totally normal way.â?
According to the Italian newspaper Quotidiano Nazionale, the Pope was treated at a hospital in Pisa. The daily reported that he had been told the brain tumor was curable and didn't require surgery. However, the newspaper did not cite a source.
Pope Francis' health has received international attention, as did the health of the last two popes. And considering he will turn 79 on December 17th, it's likely a topic that won't go away.
