They couldn't hold back their joy. Roberto and Christina had just been married four days ago in Chicago. They flew to Rome to celebrate a unique honeymoon: attending the Pope's general audience and receiving a blessing from Pope Francis himself.

CHRISTINA MARTELL
'We saw him kiss babies, bless families, and hold people's hands. He held our hands and gave us a blessing. He is amazing and we love him.

Roberto and Christina were one among many newlyweds in St. Peter's Square for the general audience. They even had the opportunity to speak with the Pope briefly. The couple said they liked what he said about family issues.

ROBERTO MARTELL
'Having a strong and united family is something one needs to have the power to overcome whatever life brings.

CHRISTINA MARTELL
'I think it was exciting to hear him speak about our families and raising them according to God's will. And bringing them up as Catholics, and going to Mass and praying and being a family.

Starting a big family is something both of them said they're looking forward to. For them, visiting the Eternal City was the best way to begin their new life together.
