Cardinal Bergoglio made a bold statement by choosing the name Francis when he was elected Pope. He did so because he was inspired by the St. Francis of Assisi's devotion to Creation and the poor.
This group of young people also have a similar devotion: They belong to the Young Franciscans, a group that follows Saint Francis' values.

'In our opinion, it went great because it was our first time that we saw Pope Francis. And the speech of the Pope was amazing in our opinion because he spoke about actual situations. He talked about the role of the Church. And we share his opinion about the role of the Church, about the migrants and the refugees.â?
Giulia's group of Young Franciscans came from Southern Italy. Their religious organization received a special greeting from Pope Francis during the day's general audience.
But they were even more impressed with Pope Francis' message. She said it's necessary to remind people of the issues he discussed.

'Churches aren't museums or something that opens just to welcome famous people. Church must be open to everyone, especially for poor and people who suffer.â?
This won't be the last time they see the Pope. Next year, the Young Franciscans plan to make the pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland.
Like everyone, they hope Pope Francis will one day visit their hometown. But for now they are content having seen him in Rome, alongside thousands of other excited pilgrims.
