The Sacrament of Confession will be one of the main pillars of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. In fact, three parishes near the Vatican will have priests available to administer Confession in many languages.

On April 23rd, which will mark the Jubilee for teenagers, there will be a special event right in the heart of the Vatican.

'During the Jubilee for the youth, St. Peter's Square will be transformed into a huge open air confessional. We decided to carry this out to emphasize just how much the Pope is highlighting the importance of confession, of forgiveness and mercy.â?

Millions of pilgrims are expected to walk through the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica, as a sign of spiritual renewal. As part of that process, they will walk along Via della Conciliazione to prepare their hearts and minds.

Jubilee Organizer
'The pilgrimage will be about 2500 feet from Castel Sant'Angelo to the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica. The pilgrimage will be set, so pilgrims will have to let us know that they're coming beforehand, so we can include them in the prayer and meditation. It's a pilgrimage to show one's commitment to renew the faith and to become a witness of mercy.â?

The Jubilee Year of Mercy will run from December 8 to November 20th, 2016. Millions of people are expected to take part in Rome and abroad.
