The cries of babies welcomed Pope Francis when he was to baptize 33 children in the Sistine Chapel.

In his homily, he explained that the word of God is the best gift that parents can give their children. That's why he encouraged them to read the Gospel.

POPE FRANCIS
'Try to get the habit of reading a passage of the Gospel every day, even a short one. And always  carry a Gospel with you, in your pocket or purse.â?

And even it was an intimate ceremony, Pope Francis also referred to the drama of hunger that thousands of  children suffer in the world.

POPE FRANCIS
'You, mothers, feed your children, even now, if they are crying because they're hungry, don't worry. We thank the Lord for the gift of milk and we pray for those mothers, so many mothers, unfortunately, who can't provide food for their children.

During the baptism ceremony, there were some surprises. This couple, for instance, brought their twins to be baptized.

Most of the babies were quiet throughout the ceremony. Most, but not all.

Among the 33 children were 20 girls and 13 boys. They all are sons and daughters of Vatican employees.
