Thousands of people gathered in St. Peter's Square to celebrate the first Sunday Angelus of 2015. The Pope focused on peace, describing it as a matter of urgency.
POPE FRANCIS
'Every human being and every community has a hunger, a thirst for peace. Every human being and every community feel this. That's why it's not only necessary, but urgent to build peace.â?
The Pope explained that peace isn't just the absence of war, but a personal condition of every individual.
There are wars between nations, said the Pope, but also hatred amid communities and struggles even within families. Despite the challenges, he said peace is possible.
POPE FRANCIS
'We have to convince ourselves that even though it may not seem like it, peace is indeed possible on all levels and all situations. We won't have a future without concrete proposals for peace. There's no future without peace.â?
Christians, said the Pope have a concrete responsibility to not only foster peace, but to live it out in their daily lives.
