A delegation of the Salvation Army met with Pope Francis in the Vatican. The main goal of this Evangelical organization is to carry out humanitarian work.

The Salvation Army was founded in 1865. It engages with the Catholic Church through the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. As a gift, members of the delegation gave Pope Francis a book with its history.

In return, the Pope thank them their work with the poor and needy as well as their missionary work of evangelization.
The delegation gave Pope Francis an annual report of their activities before saying farwell.
