This Mass marked the closing of Asian Youth Day, which brought together thousands of youths from at least 22 Asian countries. The Pope gave his homily in English, encouraging young Christians to take an active role in life and society, despite being a minority.

POPE FRANCIS
'You have a right and a duty to take full part in the life of your societies. Do not be afraid to bring the wisdom of faith to every aspect of social life!

The Pope divided his homily in three main themes:  Asian, Youth and Wake Up! To explain that last one, he improvised a bit to get his point across.

POPE FRANCIS
'Wake up! Wake up! No one who sleeps can sing, dance or rejoice. It's no good when I see young people who sleep. No! Wake up, go, go ahead.â?

As young Christians, the Pope highlighted that they can recognize what aspects of contemporary culture are incompatible with Catholic faith- from sin, corruption and paths that lead to death.

When it comes to helping out others, the Pope said they must not give into the temptation of pushing away the stranger, needy, poor or broken hearted.

POPE FRANCIS
'We are to be like Christ, who responds to every plea for His help with love, mercy and compassion.â?

The Mass was celebrated in Latin, Korean and English. Towards the end, it was announced that the next Asian Youth Day will take place in Indonesia in 2017.
