Thousands of pilgrims made it to St. Peter's Square on Sunday morning to attend the Pope's Regina Coeli.
The Pope talked about the power of the Word of God, especially in trying times. He emphasized that the Gospel always helps Christians to carry on.
POPE FRANCIS
'Don't forget this! Whenever you're sad, read the Word of God. Whenever you feel discouraged, read the Word of God and go to Mass on Sunday to receive the Communion and to take part in the mystery of Jesus! The Word of God and the Eucharist fill us with joy.â?
Ukraine was symbolically present in the Regina Coeli, as Pope Francis made a call for peace in that European country. He also prayed for victims of the deadly floods in Afghanistan.
POPE FRANCIS
'I pray along with you, for these victims, so that the Lord may fill the hearts of all with a sense of peace and brotherhood. FLASH Let's also pray for those who died in the floods that hit a village in Afghanistan two days ago. Let's pray so that God Almighty, who knows everyone by name, may welcome them into His peace.â?
Large crowds of young people were at St. Peter's Square, and Pope Francis couldn't help but address them.
POPE FRANCIS
'How many young people are here today? How many? You are the protagonists of the future! You've made yourself part of the future and part of History!â?
Once the Regina Coeli was over, as usual the Pope wished everyone a good Sunday and a good lunch.
