Tens of thousands of people who came out to St. Peter's Square to celebrate the Angelus with Pope Francis, actually received a gift. They left with a small box of spiritual medicine.
POPE FRANCIS
'Take it! It includes a rosary so you can also pray the chaplet of Divine Mercy. It provides spiritual support for our souls, so we can spread love,
forgiveness and fraternity everywhere.â?
The gift is a way to mark the end of the Year of Faith, which will conclude with a Mass on Sunday the 24th. The Pope added that the rosary with 59
beads, are like 59 pills that strengthen the soul.
Reflecting on Sunday's Gospel, the Pope explained that Jesus warned his disciples about false prophets. It's a warning, the Pope said, that's still relevant today.
POPE FRANCIS
'Nowadays, there are many false saviors who try to substitute Jesus, leaders in this world, fake saints and personalities who wish to influence the hearts and minds of people, especially the young. Jesus warns us about this. Don't follow them!â?
The Pope also prayed for persecuted Christians. He thanked them for their courage and their testimony, adding that they are not alone.
POPE FRANCIS
'Let's pray for our Christian brothers and sisters who suffer from persecution because of their faith. There are so many of them. Perhaps even more than in the first centuries.â?
When life gets challenging, the Pope said Christians must not lose faith. Instead, he said they must trust in God and show perseverance.
