A couple days before the Formula E championship takes place on the streets of Rome, the head of the competition, Alejandro Agag, along with world-class riders such as Jean-Éric Vergne, Lucas Di Grassi and Jérôme D'Ambrosio, have asked the pope to bless this model.

This championship of electric-motor cars will take place this weekend in Rome and will unite former Formula 1 drivers and new young talents still in development.

Additionally, it has a great ecological proposal, the same one the pope promotes in his encyclical Laudato si'.

“It's electric. We are going around the world bringing these electric cars to promote clean mobility that we know, your Holiness, you also promote.”

Pope Francis blessed the car and after personally met each of the drivers. He also met and blessed Lucas Di Grassi's wife, who is expecting a baby.

He was introduced to the championship winner, Jean-Éric Vergne and the pope joked with him.

'This is who is leading the championship.'

POPE FRANCIS

'For now.'

With this beautiful final image and Pope Francis' blessing, all are geared up for the 33-lap race with 20 cars set for April 14.

It is the first time it is held in Rome and many expect great sports figures to be among the attendees.
