Pope Francis arrived in Ireland shortly before 10:30 a.m., local time. Upon landing at Dublin International Airport, he was received by Vice Prime Minister Simon Coveney and his three daughters, who gave the pope a bouquet of flowers.
Also present were the Irish bishops and Cardinal Kevin Farrell, prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life.
The Holy Father is undertaking an intense, 33-hour visit to participate in the World Meeting of Families and meet with victims of sexual abuse.
