In his daily homily at Casa Santa Marta, Pope Francis warned Christians to watch out for polite demons. He said, when the devil cannot attack directly, he pursues a more subtle way to lead people into a worldly spirit.

'He is a polite person. He goes about looking for a weak point and knocks at the door, 'Excuse me? May I come in?' and rings the bell. These polite demons are worse than the first ones, because you don't realize that you have them at home. This is the worldly spirit, the spirit of the world. The devil either destroys directly with vices, with wars, with injustices directly or destroys politely, diplomatically, in this way that Jesus says.”
Pope Francis urged Christians to be vigilant and calm with these polite demons. He said this is the message of Jesus to question what is happening in one's heart.

“When the devil takes possession of a person’s heart, the pope said, he makes it his home not wanting to leave, and tries to ruin the person and harm him even physically.”
