This week, film director, Liana Marabini, will present in the centre of Rome the Mirabile Dictu awards for the best Catholic film productions.
It will be the ninth edition of this festival. Its silver fish award evokes the symbol used by early Christians.
The festival recognizes audiovisual productions for the values they promote.

“The Festival was started because I love the Church and I am convinced that cinema is a very useful instrument for evangelization. So I decided to bring Catholic films together in one place.”
This year, the festival has received around a thousand candidates. It has selected 12
finalists. Among them are films such as “Conversación,” a short film by Peruvian Cristian Garcia; the film “Red de libertad,” for which Spaniard Pablo Moreno has been nominated for Best Director; and “Now and the Hour of Our Death,” by Poles Mariusz Pilis and Dariusz Walusiak.
On the sidelines of the competition, Rome Reports' documentary “Benedict XVI, In Honor of Truth” will receive the Capax Dei Prize.

“I must say the year 2018 has given us the opportunity to study the panorama of Catholic cinema from all angles. In October, in the south of France, we brought together the world's largest Catholic film producers and reflected on all the opportunities available. These movies are becoming an increasingly important part of the film industry.”
The organizer explains that the festival is not limited to awards. She is about to launch a new platform that will facilitate the international distribution of these films. Good news for movie lovers.
