During his daily Mass at Casa Santa Marta, the pope asked to pray for bishops and priests, so that they could make the right decisions during this coronavirus crisis.
POPE FRANCIS
“I would also like to pray today for pastors who should accompany the people of God during this crisis. May the Lord grant them the strength and the ability to choose the best ways to help.”
In addition to canceling all Masses to avoid large gatherings, and since the Italian government has asked everyone to stay home unless absolutely necessary, Italy has closed all of its churches.
The pope underscored the weight of these measures.
POPE FRANCIS
“Drastic measures are not always good. Therefore, we pray that the Holy Spirit might grant pastoral discernment and the ability to find measures that might not leave the holy, faithful people of God alone.”
Pope Francis, before beginning the Mass, asked to pray for the sick and their families.
