Ángel Chaparro started composing in 2017 after a hurricane devastated his native Puerto Rico. Kairy Márquez has been singing her own songs since she was 16. Both share a desire to make music that fills people with hope.

“Tarde te amé”
“For those of us who sing to the Lord, it's a life journey. It's a process of working on the spiritual and emotional aspects, to then be a light for others. It's not easy. It's not easy. It's a commitment.”

It's precisely to be a light for others that they wrote “Tarde te amé” (Late did I love You). An original song that blends their individual styles into one.

The lyrics reference some of St. Augustine's writings.

“The lyrics narrate St. Augustine's writings, but they also talk about our personal experiences, where we've had the opportunity to experience God's love. When we find that love, we say 'How late I found this. If I had arrived a bit sooner, I would have experienced this joy in the Lord sooner.'”

Kairy Márquez says that songs like “Tarde te amé” give them the opportunity to help others heal their wounds, what this duo sees as a responsibility.

KAIRY MÁRQUEZ
“Tarde te amé”
“When I see many souls together, gathered, at the feet of our Lord and going through whatever they're going through, the Lord honors that. The Lord sees that, and I think it's very beautiful.”

Kairy and Ángel continue to work on individual projects to continue to write meaningful music.
