The Vatican has released some details regarding Pope emeritus Benedict XVI's funeral on January 5.
The Pope emeritus asked for a simple celebration, so only two official delegations will join. One from Italy and the other from Germany—his home country.
The Vatican confirmed that he will be buried in the crypt of the Popes near the tomb of St. Peter. Also, beginning on Monday, the faithful will be able to say their last goodbye to the Pope emeritus before the funeral on Thursday at 9:30am.
His remains will be in St. Peter's Basilica from Monday at 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
