Julieta Anabella Machuca y Machuca is the new Ambassador of El Salvador to the Holy See. She had a private audience with Pope Francis to present her credentials.

During their meeting at the Apostolic Palace, the Ambassador and the Pope exchanged a tender moment when she told him about her children, nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

They also had a private audience where both agreed to strengthen the relationships and principles shared over the years.

In addition, the Pope received an image of Our Lady of Peace, patroness of El Salvador, made by Salvadoran artisans from Torogoz; and a painting of the Last Supper by Fernando Llort. He also received several relics of Saint Oscar Romero and Blessed Rutilio Grande sent by the Archbishopric of San Salvador.

The Holy Father took advantage of the occasion to give medals of the 10 years of his Pontificate, rosaries and his encyclicals.
