The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra performed works by some of the most famous artists in a unique setting: the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome.

The concert celebrated 30 years of relations between Israel and the Vatican. The Ambassador of Israel said this event was an important reminder of the need for fraternity and care for the environment—two messages emphasized by Pope Francis' encyclicals Laudato si' and Fratelli Tutti.

RAPHAEL SCHUTZ
Ambassador of Israel to the Holy See

We live a time in which humanity experiences exceptional achievements. The list is too long to be detailed here, but at the same time, the same humanity is still immersed in wars, growing social polarization and no less dangerous, irresponsible, wasteful use of our planet's resources

The concert was titled, 'Religions united in music.” It featured the works of artists from the three religions that descended from Abraham.

A few words were read from Cardinal James Harvey, the Archpriest of the Basilica who could not be present. He explained the goal of the concert was to promote unity and hope.

The Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls organized this concert with the sponsorship of the Foundation for Music and Sacred Art.
