The first decision the cardinals made after Pope Francis' funeral was to set the date of the conclave: May 7th.
It will begin with the celebration of the Pro Eligendo Pontifice Mass in the morning.
The cardinal electors under the age of 80 will enter the Sistine Chapel in the afternoon, take the oath, and the first vote will take place later the same day.
There should be 135 cardinals eligible to participate, although on the day that the date of the conclave was announced, it was already known that one, Spanish Cardinal Antonio Cañizares, Archbishop Emeritus of Valencia, will not attend due to health reasons.
