The emotional pilgrimage of the faithful to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major continues, on the second day of visits to Pope Francis's tomb. Thousands of people have passed through the site, which has an atmosphere of solemnity and respect.

Since the early hours of the morning, the entrances of Saint Mary Major have once again been filled with pilgrims and visitors. Many have come from different parts of the world to pay tribute and pray at the Pope’s tomb, located beside the altar of the historic Roman Basilica.

I’m very emotional because I arrived here on Friday to see him at the Basilica, at the funeral, and now… to see him here at the final moment.
The simplicity of the tomb reflects the lifestyle that characterized Pope Francis during his papacy. He wanted it to be simple, on the ground, and without any decoration.
