The U.S. Vice President's visit to the Vatican was very emotional for him.
On Good Friday, he participated with his family in one of the key celebrations of Holy Week. He could be seen in one of the main seats.
That same day, he left this message on social media:
I am grateful every day for this job, but particularly today where my official duties have brought me to Rome on Good Friday.
That same day, he had met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The following day, he met with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Parolin.
The Vatican stated in a subsequent statement that they discussed the tense international situation marked by wars, humanitarian crises, and, specifically, migrants and refugees.
The tone of the meeting was more than cordial. The Vice President of the United States led his family to the room where the meeting with the Vatican's deputy took place.
The entire family was then taken to the Sistine Chapel to admire the works of art in the Vatican Museums.
