During the Chrism Mass, Cardinal Domenico Calcagno, President Emeritus of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See, consecrated the oil that will be used to anoint the newly baptized, those receiving confirmation, and the newly ordained bishops or priests in the diocese.
For example, the Sacred Chrism will be used to administer the sacrament of baptism to some adults during the Easter Vigil at St. Peter’s.
In this celebration, two other oils are also blessed: for catechumens or those who are preparing for Baptism; and the other one used for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
