On the morning of Holy Wednesday, Pope Francis met with the management and staff of the Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital, where he was previously hospitalized for 38 days.
Also present at the meeting were staff from the Vatican Department of Health and Hygiene. In total, there were 70 people, all who assisted the Pope during his hospitalization last month.
DANIELE FRANCO
President of the Board of Directors of the Gemelli Foundation
We thank you for this invitation. We are very happy to be here. As you can see, we emptied the hospital to come and greet you. We are happy for this occasion, but above all, happy to see that you are doing better, that you are recovering.
In addition, Pope Francis also dedicated a few words to them. This was the longest speech he has given since leaving the hospital.
