The White House has confirmed that the Vice President of the United States will travel to Italy and India from April 18 to 24.
In Rome, he will be meeting with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who has been in charge of receiving high-ranking foreign government officials during Pope Francis’s recovery. For example, he met with the President of Lithuania in March.
Private meetings with Pope Francis have not been ruled out either. For instance, although the British monarchs postponed their visit to the Vatican, they were ultimately able to have a brief private meeting with the Pontiff.
