With this statement, the Sodalitium of Christian Life announced its own dissolution. It is signed by its Superior General before Sister Simona Brambilla, Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life, the department to which the institution belonged.
The Sodalitium stated that it accepts this decision of the Pope with "sorrow and obedience" and apologizes to the victims of abuse that occurred within its environment.
In fact, they have also published a report on the reparation work they have carried out. Specifically, there were 98 cases of abuse, 17 of which were related to sexual abuse of minors.
This institution was approved by Pope John Paul II in 1997. Legally, it was classified as a society of apostolic lay life and had spread to at least nine countries before being dissolved.
