At the moment, it is not planned for Pope Francis to preside over any of the liturgical celebrations of Holy Week. In fact, the Vatican has stated that the pope has delegated the responsibility of presiding over Palm Sunday to Cardinal Leonardo Sandri.

It may be the case that Pope Francis will make an occasional appearance, similar to the ones he made during the Jubilee of the Sick…

More occasions like this have not been ruled out.

The Vatican confirmed that the pope was strolling in his residence at Casa Santa Marta in a wheelchair and decided to go to the basilica to pray at the tomb of his predecessors, specifically Pope Pius X.

Very clearly, the pope is resuming more contact with the people. During those days, he also met with English monarchs and worked alongside some officials from the Curia.

In addition, the Vatican notes that there are slight improvements in his muscular and respiratory systems, and that he is spending longer periods of time without the use of oxygen.
