The Jesuits already took a step forward in the famous Rupnik case. They did so by sending a letter to five of the victims for the first time.

Now, the Sanctuary of Lourdes has also decided to take a stand, albeit symbolically: they will cover the former Jesuit's mosaics as a gesture of their support. This is not the first time they have done so. In July 2024, they stopped illuminating them during processions.

The victims decided to come out of anonymity in February 2024 to apply pressure and expedite the judicial process within the Church.

Alleged abuse victim

The latest information regarding the canonical trial is that the investigations (the preliminary phase) have been concluded, as announced by the Prefect of the Doctrine of the Faith.

At this point, judges are being sought to initiate the judicial process, although Rupnik has not yet publicly released his version of events. Nor has he cooperated with the internal investigation conducted by the Society of Jesus, which, in fact, concluded with the decision to expel him for disobedience.
