This could have been the face of St. Teresa of Jesus in her 50s, at a key moment in her spiritual life.

The work is the result of a thorough scientific study that was carried out by studying the remains of the saint on the occasion of the 510th anniversary of her birth.

This work was carried out using the most modern technological techniques. It is the fruit of a study begun in August 2024, following the opening of her tomb that had the approval of the Vatican. The work involved experts from Italian and Australian universities.

This is considered to be the most faithful representation of the 16th century Spanish saint and mystic to date.

Her remains will be on display to the public from May 11 to 25 in Alba de Tormes, the place where she died. It will be the fourth time in more than 400 years that it will be exhibited.
