On the black market, there are also relics of saints. This is what the Bishop of Assisi denounced, after finding relics of Carlo Acutis, the young man who will be proclaimed a saint on April 27, in an online auction.
MONS. DOMENICO SORRENTINO
Bishop of Assisi (Italy)
I am responsible, and I try to do things and ensure they are done in an absolutely regular manner. And yesterday I even came across a relic of our Saint authenticated by the postulator. Therefore, it must be one of those that somehow came from here, from the body of the Blessed, and I find it at an auction. Such a thing cannot be tolerated.
Upon hearing of the events, which would also affect other saints, such as Saint Francis of Assisi, the Bishop filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office for an investigation.

I immediately went to the police and asked them to take this report, including, if possible, the seizure of this relic, in case it was all fake news, something fabricated on the internet, but whose veracity we cannot verify; this will then be done by law enforcement and the judiciary.
The prelate further explained that Canon Law prohibits this trade; that relics are donated free of charge, and that, at most, offerings are made to the shrine from which they came.
