Rome is preparing to welcome once again the 24-hour day for the Lord in the run-up to Holy Week. A time when the faithful go to confession. This year, coinciding with the Jubilee of the Missionaries of Mercy, about 500 missionaries will gather to celebrate what is considered one of the biggest Jubilee events.

Pope Francis often attends these conferences. In them, he would confess to several assistants or even confess to himself. Also, in view of the celebration of this sacrament, he would offer this advice to the priests:

POPE FRANCIS
And here I turn todday to my brother confessors. Please brothers, forgive everything.
Let people say their things. And you receive it like Jesus with the caress of your gaze, with the silence of your understanding. Please, the Sacrament of Confession is not to torture but it is to give peace.

This year, due to the pope's recent release from the hospital, Francis will not be present. In his place, he has left a letter to be read on his behalf.

The event will begin at 4 p.m. this Friday at the Basilica of San Andres del Valle, under the theme “You are my hope”.
