Surely if you have been in Rome in recent months, you will have been able to see the 100 nativity scenes that were installed at Christmas in St. Peter's, or artworks such as the painting of the White Crucifixion by Marc Chagall.
All of this is part of the cultural events taking place for Rome's Jubilee Year, and there are still many more to discover.
In fact, from March 7 until July 6, there will be a major exhibition at Palazzo Barberini dedicated to Caravaggio.
Among the outstanding pieces will be exhibited a key work of art, the Martyrdom of Saint Ursula, the last painting by the master.
The Jubilee has been organizing cultural events for some time. It all started in 2023, when Rome hosted an exhibition on El Greco in the Church of St. Agnes, located in Piazza Navona. It included paintings such as Christ Embraced the Cross, The Holy Family or The Baptism.
This was one of the first cultural events that gave rise to the Jubilee of Hope 2025.
Well into 2024, Salvador Dalí's Christ arrived in Rome. This work of art was exhibited for the first time next to an object that was precisely the one that inspired the artist.

The idea for this Christ was born in him after a visit to Avila at the end of December 1948, when, on entering the Monastery of the Incarnation, the Carmelite nuns showed him the small drawing made in their own handwriting by the Carmelite Juan de la Cruz around 1572, after a mystical vision that the man in ecstasy had received from God.
Shortly before the opening of the Jubilee, still in November, the Dicastery for Evangelization promoted the exhibition of Marc Chagall's masterpiece, White Crucifixion. The work showed a strong message for defense of human dignity and dialogue between cultures. One of the works dearest to Pope Francis.
During the Christmas season, it is very common to see an exhibition, on the left side of the columns in St. Peter's Square, of small nativity scenes from all over the world. This year, on the occasion of the Jubilee, there were many special ones.
