Pope Francis is following the spiritual exercises, that the Curia carries out every first week of Lent, from the hospital. These began on March 9 and will end on March 14.
The meditations are being given by the new preacher of the pontifical house, Father Roberto Pasolini, who has taken over from Cardinal Raniero Cantalamessa.
Holy Father, brothers and sisters all. May the Lord give you peace. And may he give it to me too who, with this meditation, try to take up again the long and precious legacy of Father Raniero Cantalamessa.
The place where the spiritual exercises are taking place is the Paul VI Hall and the high officials of the Curia are participating in a communitarian way. Therefore, it is expected that Vatican activity will decrease during these days.
In previous years, both the pope and the curia would go by bus to a town outside Rome, and everyone would cancel their schedule for almost a week. However, the pandemic and the pontiff's health problems have meant that since 2020 the spiritual exercises have been held at the Vatican.
