This year, the Catholic Church is combining the Day of the Missions with the day dedicated to refugees. In fact, the motto chosen by the Pope for this occasion is “Migrants, missionaries of hope”. It will be celebrated on October 4 and 5.
The Vatican points out that this choice has a reason. It is said that the motto highlights:
The courage and tenacity of migrants and refugees, who bear witness to the hope for the future, despite the difficulties.
This year's Jubilee is dedicated to hope, one of the theological virtues that Pope Francis has preached most.

Hope is an anchor we have on the other side. We hold on to the rope: “I know my Redeemer is alive. I will see Him.” This is something we must repeat, in moments of joy, in moments of hardship, in moments of death.
The UN estimates the number of refugees at 43.4 million people, with the majority coming from just five countries: Afghanistan, Syria, Venezuela, Ukraine, and Sudan.
