One of the decisions the pope has made from the hospital: to approve decrees coming from the dicastery for the Causes of Saints, the department from which canonization causes are evaluated.
The Pope approved the canonization of Venezuelan Blessed José Gregorio Hernández, the physician who lived between the 19th and 20th centuries. The date has yet to be determined.
Almost a year ago, in May 2024, he had already announced to the Venezuelan ambassador to the Holy See that he intended to canonize this doctor.
We are going to canonize him.

When the people would go for a medical visit, he would set out his hat and invite anyone who could pay to place the money there. And those without money were invited to take the money from the hat.
The Vatican had reported the night before that the pope had resumed work, but no details had been given as to what exactly he had done.
Among the documents approved by the pope there is also a cause coming from the United States. It is in its first steps, since the Kansas priest, Emil Jospeh Kapaun, has not yet been beatified. He was a diocesan priest from the United States who died in a concentration camp in North Korea in 1951.
