Many pilgrims had travelled to Rome in recent days hoping to see the Pope. But the Vatican, given the circumstances, cancelled all events scheduled.
We would come to see him, but since he is in a delicate condition, we don't think he can come out to bless us…
We also came to see the Holy Father, but unfortunately, he is hospitalized…
For me, it is a bit sad because I did have the hope of meeting him, but we still carry him in our hearts.
Some, taking advantage of the presence of the cameras, wanted to leave a message of support for the Pope:
I wish him a speedy recovery, may God bless him and may he continue with the legacy that God has sent him.
We ask God for a lot and we will pray for the health of the Pope because he is a very good and noble Pope and the truth is that he is very close to the people.
I wish the Pope a speedy and good recovery so that he can continue doing his work.
The most tender display of affection came from the children who are hospitalized in the Gemelli Oncology ward. They sent him these drawings made by them, and the letters that their parents have written to him.
Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, personally visited the hospital. She was one of the few who was able to see the Pope and tell how he was doing. She expressed herself in the statement published by the government.
“I am very happy to have found him alert and responsive. We have joked as usual. He has not lost his proverbial sense of humour”.
There were all messages of encouragement at a delicate moment for the 88-year-old Pope. Who knows if, at least, the rainbow that appeared in the sky of Rome was a message of encouragement from heaven.
