Caritas calls for international aid for Sudan. The nearly two years of war have devastated the country, which has more than 8 million internally displaced people and 3.5 million refugees who have fled to neighbouring countries.
Caritas also expresses its concern about the decision of the United States to freeze key funding for the distribution of humanitarian aid.
The United Nations has also called on the international community to become more involved.

Sudan is in the grip of a crisis of staggering scale and brutality - a crisis that is increasingly spilling over into the wider region. And a crisis that demands sustained and urgent attention, from the African Union and the broader international community. Humanitarian access remains a fundamental challenge, particularly where the fighting is most active.
The United Nations says the situation is worrying.
