The Pope's message during the Angelus considered the high numbers of children in situations of social exclusion. Despite this, he encouraged couples to welcome the gift of life.

Today, Italy is celebrating the Day for Life, on the theme “Transmitting Life, Hope for the World.” I join the Italian bishops in expressing gratitude to the many families who gladly welcome the gift of life and in encouraging young couples not to be afraid to bring children into the world.
Pope Francis also invited the faithful to reflect on their own lives and to ask themselves two questions: what do they hope for and what is their great hope?

Enlightened by this encounter with Jesus, we can then ask: I… you, you ,you, and I…. what am I looking forward to in my life? What is my great hope? Does my heart long to see the face of the Lord? Do I wait for the manifestation of his plan of salvation for humanity?
The Pope encouraged all those present to pray for peace in all those places at war. He also greeted several pilgrims from Spain, Italy, Poland and Bulgaria.
